Mobile app development - experience in iOS, Android & cross-platform apps

At Helm und Walter, we have extensive experience in the realization of projects that are partly or mainly designed for mobile devices (smartphones and tablets). It makes no difference to us whether you are looking for a solution for Apple's iOS - i.e. iPhone and iPad - or for Android. In addition, we also offer the development of cross-platform applications (X-platform apps), where we strive to implement your application for both Apple and Android as well as for conventional PCs.

The colorful world of apps: different types of implementation at a glance

Native App
A native app is developed for a specific operating system (iOS or Android) or device. This makes it possible to use a wide range of device functions and hardware. However, such apps are usually difficult or impossible to transfer to other manufacturers or devices.
Web App
Web apps are applications that provide functionalities as a website with HTML, CSS and JavaScript and exchange data with a remote server, for example as a single-page application. The display device is almost irrelevant if the application interface has been well designed using responsive design.
Hybride App
Apps for mobile devices utilize the advantages of web apps and native apps in equal measure. General functions are provided as a web application. This runs in a webview container, which can, however, access extended device functions via the operating system's API. Hybrid apps have the advantage that they are easier to distribute on different mobile devices. However, the native part must also be adapted, sometimes at great expense.
Cross-platform app
Cross-platform apps are applications that are developed from the outset for the widest possible variety of platforms and devices. The aim is usually to develop an app for Android and iOS at the same time. A corresponding framework is used for programming, which makes it possible to export the end result for a variety of target systems and operating systems. It is even possible to use special device functions, such as cameras etc., if these are available and supported.
